JOB SUMMARY
The Food Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the daily Food Operations ensuring high standards of service and quality are met or exceeded. The operation includes multiple dining, member events, activities, banquets and special functions, etc.
Recruit, hire and train staff. Ensure staff roles and expectations are clearly defined and encourage high staff morale. Assure that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implemented.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in hospitality, food and beverage, culinary, event management, or related professional area.
- Previous club experience preferred.
- Possess food safety and alcoholic beverage certification or complete within the season.
- Experience with software, such as Microsoft Word/Excel, and Point of Sale programs, preferably in Northstar.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong passion and knowledge for food service.
- Demonstrate ability to be a team leader, train staff in a constructive and professional manner.
- Ability to diagnose problems, respond to complaints, and increase food/dining efficiencies.
- Capability to perform some manual labor tasks that will require some physical efforts such as carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, or occasionally moving objects more than 25 pounds or more. Frequent walking, standing, and continuous repetitive motions.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing sanitation, and quality of beverage preparation, service standards, and procedures.
- Manage the ordering of purchases of supplies, sanitation, and equipment, etc.
- Inspect supplies, and equipment. Organize areas to ensure efficiency, safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards. Implement and monitor sanitation and cleaning schedules.
- Serve as a member of the team and provide necessary reporting to the General Manager and Bookkeeper. Attend staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Monitor weekly physical inventory for timeliness, and accuracy to maximize usage while minimizing waste and breakage.
- Manage and maintain the highest standards of products and services while maximizing profitability through cost and labor control while meeting revenue goals.
- Market ideas to promote business: reduce staff turnover, maintain revenue and payroll goals and meet productivity while keeping quality consistently high.
- Leverage technology to increase productivity and member satisfaction.
- Create and monitor objectives, policies, procedures, and strategies and meet or exceed Lake Sunapee Yacht Club specified goals.
- Implement effective cost controls for food and labor.
- Prepare and post weekly staff schedules. Review and approve weekly payroll.
- Maintain records of special events, house counts, daily business volumes, and review BEOs.
- Assist with special and internal functions and Club events, including weddings, holiday parties, regatta’s, etc.
- Greet members by their name (when possible) and welcome guests while overseeing actual service on a routine and random basis.
- Be responsible for all aspects of securing staff. Work on recruitment, and acquisition of waitstaff.
This position includes days, nights, weekends and holidays.

WHO WE ARE
In 1902, about a dozen avid sailors founded Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. In 1924, Club members voted topurchase the current land and erect the present building. Membership ranged from 40 to 50 families.
Today, the Club membership is over 400. The Club is a private family focused summer only club and offers sailing, tennis and swimming lessons. Numerous Club members race weekly with either The LakeSunapee Star Fleet or The Lake Sunapee Cruising Fleet. The Club has hosted the 12th District Star Champ onships, the Sonar World Championship, the Western Hemisphere Star Regatta and annually hosts the Sunapee Star Open and the Junior Rig It Up Regatta. Our kitchen provides lunch daily during our season and serves a variety of dinners four nights a week.
The mission of the Club is to promote and advance interest in yachting and yacht racing and encourage legitimate sporting and social activities for the enjoyment of members and guests while supporting the preservation of the scenic beauty of Lake Sunapee and its water quality.
